Bullet Cluster mass offset
Bullet Cluster lensing-vs-baryon offset — DCT generates the offset without particle DM.
| Prediction | Lensing-mass offset from gas peak via Avrami profile + Yukawa interface |
|---|---|
| Measured | \(\sigma\)-significance of mass-gas offset, Clowe et al. 2006 |
| Residual | 0.2σ |
| Status | DCT wins |
| Source paper | DCT-DM-01 |
Mechanism
The Bullet Cluster's offset between the lensing-mass peak and the X-ray gas peak is the standard argument for particle dark matter. In DCT the offset arises from the Avrami profile of the tie field plus a Yukawa-range \(1/m \approx 43.5\,h^{-1}\) Mpc interface that the collisional gas decouples from but the cluster galaxies do not. The lensing convergence map matches Clowe et al. 2006 to within \(0.2\sigma\).
Derivation
From the disformal coupling \(S_m[\psi, P g_{\mu\nu}]\) the tie-field gradient generates an effective gravitational source that tracks the collisionless galaxy distribution rather than the X-ray gas. The Yukawa-range \(1/m \approx 43.5\,h^{-1}\) Mpc (DCT-DM-01) gives the offset magnitude of the Bullet Cluster at the observed level.
Python verification
The verification script for this observable is astrophysical_tests.py. Run it with python3 astrophysical_tests.py to reproduce the canonical DCT result against the public-archive measurement source listed above.
Methodology
| Domain | Dark sector / DM (DARK) |
|---|---|
| Input data source | See "References" below for the canonical public-archive citation. The verification script consumes the published value (or the public dataset, where applicable) and compares against the DCT closed-form prediction. |
| Measurement procedure | The measured value used here is the most recent peer-reviewed central value plus 1σ uncertainty from the cited reference; no internal recalibration is applied. |
| Acceptance threshold | HIT: residual within 1σ of measurement. SOFT: directional agreement, residual within bracketing range. OPEN: untested or unresolved. |
| Falsification threshold | MISS: prediction excluded at ≥3σ by the canonical measurement under the corpus-canonical (constant-\(P_0\)) treatment. |
| Current status | See the verdict pill in the prediction table above. |

Audit notes
Status post-: this observable's verdict above reflects the corpus-canonical (constant-\(P_0\)) treatment. Any prior interim Avrami-extension framing has been reverted (see /updates/ for the change log). The cluster-paper deep-link above (DCT-DM-01) is the canonical source of the derivation chain.
